Downtime

Earlier today we had to do what was supposed to be a quick maintenance reboot. But it didn’t come up cleanly and we had to do a hard reset of the server, which in turn means a file system check (or fsck) when it reboots and that’s a problem when the data partition is so insanely huge as it is on Strongspace, since it needs to check the entire sets of harddrives. But it’ll also mean that the integrity of your data is kept safe.
So I’m sad to report that it’ll be down for outside access for about four hours. Yes, that’s far too long and chances are it’ll be up faster than that, as was the case the last time we went through this nightmare.
What’s worse is that this happens as a part of our migration of the user storage to a more modern architecture, which would effectively mean an end to long reboots like this. Leaving us in a catch 22 kind of situation.
COMPLETED That was an extremely painful 2.5 hours. We’re really sorry for the inconvenience.
